Ernakulam is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala. The state has 20 parliamentary seats. The Ernakulam seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Kalamassery, Paravur, Vypen, Kochi, Thripunithura, Eranakulam, Thrikkakara. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The INC, the CPIM are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Hibi Eden from INC won the seat with a margin of 169,153 votes. Hibi Eden was polled 491,263 votes with a vote share of 51.00 % and defeated P Rajeev from CPIM who got 322,110 votes (33.30 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Prof. K.v. Thomas from INC won the seat and was polled 353,841 votes with a vote share of 41.58%. IND candidate Dr. Christy Fernandez got 266,794 votes (31.35 %) and was the runner-up.Prof. K.v. Thomas defeated Dr. Christy Fernandez by a margin of 87,047 votes.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) scheduled the Lok Sabha polls in seven which will begin from April 19. While the ruling NDA is eyeing to retain power under PM Modi’s leadership, the I.N.D.I.A bloc is hoping for wresting power from the BJP-led alliance.

The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to take place in seven phases, commencing on April 19. While the ruling NDA aims to maintain power with Prime Minister Modi at the helm, the I.N.D.I.A bloc is seeking to unseat the BJP-led alliance.
The analysis revealed that among major parties, there are criminal cases against 31 out of the 69 candidates from the BJP, and 35 out of the 68 candidates from the Congress.
