Jailed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal\u2019s wife Sunita Kejriwal asserted that the INDIA bloc will fight against the \u2018dictatorship\u2019 of the BJP and win. Two empty chairs<\/a> – one each for jailed Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren – were kept on stage as the INDIA bloc organised a mega rally in Ranchi on April 21. The \u2018Ulgulan Nyay\u2019 rally was organised mainly by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).
Besides Ms. Kalpana Soren and Ms. Sunita Kejriwal, JMM supremo Shibu Soren, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, RJD leader and former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann and others attended the rally in a mega show of strength for the Opposition bloc.

Taking a dig at the Congress during an election rally in Rajasthan\u2019s Jalore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on April 21, said the party that had once won 400 seats is unable to contest 300 seats in this Lok Sabha election. \u201cThe Congress has hollowed out the country by spreading termites of nepotism and corruption. And today the country is angry with the Congress and is punishing it for these sins,\u201d he added.
Political parties have intensified their poll campaigning for the second phase<\/a> of the 2024 general election<\/a> which will take place on April 26, when 89 constituencies from 12 States and one Union Territory will go to the polls. The seven-phase polls would end on June 1 and counting would take place on June 4.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India<\/a> has declared void the polling conducted at 11 booths across five Assembly segments in Inner Manipur on April 19, with Presiding Officers reporting mob violence, gunfire and destroyed electronic voting machines (EVMs)<\/a> in some booths. The ECI has announced that a re-poll will be conducted<\/a> at these booths between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. on April 22, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Manipur said in a statement late on April 20.
Senior Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury expressed hope that the seat-sharing alliance between his party and the Left Front will return good results in West Bengal for both.\u00a0
He said that the results would reflect the effectiveness of the alliance between the Congress and Left Front.\u00a0
Left Front chairman Biman Bose, a veteran CPI(M) leader, said that he was confident that the Congress would transfer its votes to their candidates just as the Left supporters cast their votes to those fielded by the grand old party.\u00a0
Mr. Chowdhury, who is contesting from Baharampur Lok Sabha seat in Murshidabad district for a sixth consecutive term, questioned why the Trinamool Congress left the opposition INDIA bloc in West Bengal.\u00a0

The Himachal Pradesh BJP filed a complaint against the Congress and the Hamirpur Youth Congress Club for allegedly portraying actor and BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, Kangana Ranaut, in a negative light by using pictures from her films.\u00a0
The BJP urged the Election Commission of India (ECI) to initiate appropriate legal action against them for using objectionable, scandalous and offensive language on social media.\u00a0
The Hamirpur Youth Congress Club has used a picture of Kangana from her \u201cartistic pursuits\u201d to portray her as a negative character and posted \u201cderogatory double meaning remarks\u201d.\u00a0
The complaint filed by BJP state media in-charge Karan Nanda cited the repeated instances of alleged \u201cserious violations\u201d of the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 1860; Representation of People Act (RPA), 1951; and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by the Congress leaders.\u00a0
The instances also attract offences under the relevant sections of IPC and Information Technology Act, 2000 and the remarks fall within the definition of \u201ccorrupt practice\u201d, it said. – PTI<\/em>
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati accused Amroha MP and former BSP leader Danish Ali of \u201cbetraying\u201d people of the constituency and the party.\u00a0
Ali, who won the Lok Sabha seat in 2019 on a BSP ticket, was expelled from the party \u201cfor anti-party activities\u201d in January this year. He later joined the Congress, which fielded him from Amroha.\u00a0
