Gujarat, with 26 Lok Sabha seats, is a critical battleground for the upcoming elections. Of course it is the home state of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah. Insights from a recent opinion poll conducted by News18 indicated a favourable projection for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with expectations of securing all 26 seats in the state.
Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dropped five sitting MPs in its second list of candidates, highlighting a strategic shift in its electoral approach. This decision follows the party’s initial list of 195 candidates announced on March 2, which covered nominees for 15 Lok Sabha seats.
The BJP’s dominance in Gujarat was reaffirmed in the 2019 polls when it secured a clean sweep over the Indian National Congress (INC), clinching all 26 seats for the second consecutive time.
