The Bharatiya Janata Party led NDA is predicted to win comfortably, bagging 12 out of 14 seats with a vote share 49 per cent in Assam. Bodoland People’s Front and All India United Democratic Front are expected to win one seat each, according to News18’s Mega Opinion Poll.
In Assam, BJP is contesting in 11 seats while its ally party Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will contest in Barpeta and Dhubri seats and UPPL in Kokrajhar seat.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies will win 13 out of 14 parliamentary seats in the state in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In 2014, BJP secured seven out of the 14 seats, a number that increased to nine in 2019, marking their highest tally.
In the days leading up to the 2024 General elections, Assam Congress has witnessed major defections, where senior party members have switched to the saffron party.

Assam ranks 14th in the list of states with the most Lok Sabha seats, boasting 14 constituencies. Out of these, 11 are unreserved, while two seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribes (ST) and one for Scheduled Castes (SC). In 2019, BJP emerged as the largest party in the state, clinching nine seats, with Congress securing three seats.

The delimitation exercise in Assam has not only redrawn the boundaries of the constituencies but also political fault lines of the state.
Hailed by a section as a step to safeguard the rights of indigenous communities and critiqued by another for ensuring skewed representation, the act may have multipronged impact on the state politics ahead of elections.
Protests against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) erupted across Assam on March 12 with effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and copies of the law being burnt. The organizations protesting against the CAA have expressed that the new CAA notification will go against the 1985 Assam Accord.
When the final list of the NRC was released in Assam in August 2019, more than 19 lakh out of the 3.3 crore applicants were excluded from it.
