Elections for the Chennai South Lok Sabha/Parliamentary Constituency in Tamil Nadu will be conducted in April this year. The date of voting is 19 April ( Phase 1 ).

The notification of the election schedule kick-starts the process of filing of nomination by candidates fielded by all major parties as well as Independents. T.sumathy (a) Thamizhachi Thangapandian, from the DMK, won the Chennai South constituency in the Lok Sabha elections 2019, by securing 564872 votes while 302649 votes were polled in favour of Dr.j.jayavardhan of the ADMK. T.sumathy (a) Thamizhachi Thangapandian clinched a landslide victory with a margin of 262223 votes.
In the Chennai South Lok Sabha election of 2014, Dr. J. Jayavardhan of the ADMK won with 434540 votes. The runner-up candidate was T.k.s.elangovan DMK who got 298965 votes. There were a total of 1085402 registered voters in Chennai South in 2014.
