For the third consecutive term, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to sweep the Lok Sabha polls in Gujarat, according to News18 poll survey.
The News18 Mega Opinion Poll has predicted that the BJP will win 26 seats in the state, leaving no space for other parties. It also suggested the party will receive a vote-share of 56 percent, while the INDIA bloc has been anticipated to get 36 percent.
Considered as the saffron party’s stronghold and also home to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state sends 26 members to the lower house.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP’s vote- share in the state increased by 3 percent as it received 63.1 percent, while Congress got 32.6 percent.
BJP’s vote share during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls was 60.1 percent, and its rival Congress managed 33.5 percent. The state has traditionally witnessed a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP.

The Lok Sabha constituencies in the state include Kachchh, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Anand, Kheda, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udaipur, Bharuch, Bardoli, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad.
All these seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections respectively, leaving no space for the opposition Congress and others.

However, the Aam Aadmi Party is also seen mobilising its cadre after its participation in the state polls held in 2022. In the 2022 state assembly polls, the state was retained by the Bharatiya Janata Party for a record seventh term by bagging 156 of the 182 Assembly seats, while the opposition Congress won 17 seats and AAP got 5 seats.
BJP has been ruling the state since 1995. In all the polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was also the chief minister of the state, has remained successful in invoking Gujarati asmita (pride) with a number of developmental works that the state has witnessed during the past two decades under the rule of the BJP.
For the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP is again confident of registering victory on all seats for the third time when Narendra Modi is seeking a third straight term at the Centre.
Meanwhile, the Congress and AAP have tied up for the Lok Sabha polls. Congress will contest 24 seats, while AAP will fight for the Bharuch and Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seats.
